Te Māngai Pāho

The statutory function of Te Māngai Pāho is to promote Māori language and culture by making funds available, on such terms and conditions as it thinks fit, for broadcasting and the production of programmes to be broadcast. This is done through purchasing airtime on Māori radio stations, purchasing radio programmes for national distribution from independent programme makers, and purchasing Māori language television programmes to be broadcast on national television channels.
