The data have been extracted based on the following criteria:
- The claim management office is not equal to 'Accredited Employers'
- The claim cover decision is equal to 'Accepted'
- The clients ethnicity is equal to the following:
'Maori'
'Pacific Peoples'
- The claim registration date is between 1 July 2015 and 30 June 2018.
- The amount net is greater than $0.
- The claim payment date is between 1 July 2015 and 30 June 2018.

Caveats:

• A financial year is 1 July to 30 June.
• The claim is funded through the ACC Work account, which includes the self employed, employer/other, and residual fund codes.
• A claim can cover multiple financial years. In Table 1, a claim which lasts longer than one year is counted once for each financial year covered.
• For example, a claim which lasted from 2013/14 to 2015/16 would be counted a total of three times, once for each financial year.
• New Claims - the claims in these tables have been counted by the date that the claim was lodged with ACC. This can be immediately after the injury occurred or at any later stage.
• Active claims - are claims that generated a payment in the relevant financial years. These claims were not necessarily lodged, or had the accident occur, in the same financial year.
• Costs are based on payment date. Payment date may be different to the date of service.
• Diagnosis is based off the client’s primary injury, claims may have multiple injuries however these secondary injuries will not show within this data extract.
• ACC ethnicity data is prioritised, meaning that a claim can only have one ethnicity based on their selections on the ACC45 claim lodgement form. A maximum of six ethnicities can be chosen by the client but the system prioritises these where Māori, regardless of other ethnicities are classified as Māori, Pacific Peoples with any other responses other than Māori are classified as Pacific; Asian peoples with any other response other than Māori and Pacific are classified as Asian and Other Ethnicity regardless of any other response other than Māori, Pacific or Asian are classified as Other. Those that listed European and did not list Māori, Pacific, Asian or Other are classified as European. Residual Categories are those whose ethnicity was not stated.
• Costs are GST Exclusive and include all claim costs e.g. treatment, weekly compensation etc.
• Cell suppression of claim counts less than 4 is used or show as .. to ensure client privacy.
