TDC Planning Layer - Zones

Planning Layer - ZonesZones - the spatial application of zones identifies where similar uses and activities are anticipated. There are seven zones in this plan.Definition: Zones are fundamental spatial divisions within a district plan or local planning framework. Each zone corresponds to specific land uses and activities.Purpose: Zoning helps regulate land use, development, and activities in different areas. It ensures that land is used appropriately and consistently.Example: In Tararua, New Zealand, the base layer in the Planning Map is the ‘Rural Zone’. Every parcel of land falls within a base land use zone, which determines permissible uses without requiring a resource consent.
