The Spatial Plan is a ‘blueprint’ for our city that sets out a plan of action for where and how we should grow and develop. It provides the direction needed for the District Plan Review and will ultimately replace the Wellington Urban Growth Plan 2015.This layer defines the housing density typologies classifications contained in the final Spatial Plan. These housing density typologies categories are: Type 1: 1-2 storeys detached, semi-detached and infill housingType 2: 2-3 storeys terrace type housingType 3: 3-4 storey apartment buildingsType 4: Enable 6 storey mixed use and apartment buildingsType 5: Up to 8 storeys mixed use and apartment buildingsPolicy 3(c) of the NPS-UD 2020 requires building heights of at least 6 storeys within a walkable distance of the city centre and metropolitan centres, as well as existing and planned rapid transit stops. A definition of the areas affected by policy 3(c) and other qualifying matters which influence these typology areas are discussed in the Spatial Plan. For more information on how these areas were defined and the influences affecting this, see the Spatial Plan. For further information contact the Place Planning team (planningforgrowth@wcc.govt.nz).
