eDNA Barcoding from Sub-Ice Platelet Layer at Granite Harbour and New Harbour, 2023

This metadata record represents DNA barcoding for species presence/absence. Five sites were sampled (three in Granite Harbour and two in New Harbour). These data were used to characterise the relationship between biological assemblages incorporated into or associated with the platelet ice and their environment. Specifically, determine whether Silverfish – a keystone species of the Ross Sea ecosystem – utilise the sub-ice platelet layers of McMurdo Sound in their egg and larval stages. To date, they have only been associated with the platelet layers of Terra Nova Bay.
