This entity describes the area of land south of the Waimakariri River, between the primary and secondary stopbanks where the potential for flooding exists. The stopbank network has been designed to largely contain the floodwaters to this plain.This District Plan feature is the repository for only those areas where the natural hazard presented by floodwaters is highest.
