Digital Photographs of 14 Glaciers across the Victoria, Wright and Taylor Valleys, 1971-1973

The Dry Valleys region contains many unusual and fascinating geographical features, with some of the most stunning being the frozen-based alpine glaciers that flow from the ranges of the Victoria, Wright and Taylor Valleys. In the summers of 1970 to 1974, the lower margins and termini of 14 glaciers were selected to be photographed from locations and aspects that could be replicated in future years for climate change research. This was carried out in the anticipation that significant changes would be measurable from replication of the photos in future years or decades.

Original images were captured with black and white film, and have been digitised to JPG.
