Benthic Community Assemblage and Habitat Characterisation with Hyperspectral Seafloor Imagery at Scott Base, Cape Evans, Granite Harbour, Southern Victoria Land, 2021-2023

The sites were videoed along transects arranged across depth gradients, and specimens of several key invertebrate species were collected. At the two Granite Harbour locations, video transects focussed on 10, 20 and 30 m depths only due to time limitations.

These data allow us to explore the potential of this technology to non-invasively assess photosynthetic pigment content on the seafloor, species classification, and sets the basis for the integration of this techniques into long term monitoring campaigns.

Depth stratified video transects for seafloor habitat and community characterisation, sea stars (population genetics and stable isotopes) and water samples (to determine carbonate parameters)
