Data for fire related ACC claims
Caveats and Notes:
- All included claims are accepted for cover.
- Claims managed by an accredited employer are not included.
- Claims are identified as fire-related where the external agency is 'Fire, Flame etc.' or the accident cause is 'Fire'.
- Injury site is based on a clients primary injury. A claim may include multiple injuries in multiple injury sites but only the primary injury will be included in this dataset.
- New claims are counted where a claim was lodged with ACC between 1 January 2018 and 31 March 2023. A claim can be lodged immediately following an accident or at any later stage.
- Active claims are counted where at least one payment was made to a claim between 1 January 2018 to 31 March 2023. A claim was not necessarily lodged or had the accident occur in the same timeframe.
- A claim may be active in more than one year and, in the active claim data, will be counted once in each year in which at least one payment was made.
- Costs are provided exclusive of GST.
- Data is provided by payment date which is not necessarily the same as the date of service.
- Costs for Public Health Acute Services (PHAS) payments are not included. These payments are for services at a public hospital during the acute phase of an injury and are covered by an annual bulk payment made by ACC to the Crown. As such, payments cannot be allocated to individual claims.
- The data was extracted on 20 April 2023 and may differ if extracted again at a later date.
