Alcohol Control Area

Includes a register of current alcohol bans(Section 4 of the Auckland Council Alcohol Control Bylaw 2014) for public and police to access. Data shows areas where there is evidence of alcohol-related crime or disorder to warrant alcohol bans. In addition to what is included for public viewing, the dataset also includes historical area records under legacy council bylaws.


For public access and as a store of information for on-going alcohol harm management policy and planning and policy development by council staff.


Created under the Integrated Bylaw Review and Implementation Programme between October 2010 and October 2015. On-going maintenance is coordinated by the Community and Social Policy Department.

October 31 2015

Police were issued with a copy of this data upon completion of the decision making process undertaken by local boards and the Regulatory and Bylaws Committee throughout May to October 2015.

Update Cycle:

First update by October 31 2020, every ten years thereafter as per the review requirements for all bylaws under the Local Government Act (2002).

Delegated authorities under Section 3 of the bylaw are continuing reviewing specific areas through in consultation with iwi, the police and the community.

As updates occur Auckland Council has agreed to share this data with NZ Police. This is under the direction of the Chief Executive’s office.

This dataset planned to be updated after each Annual Review in November/December
